About me
-
From day dreamer to storyteller
My early years were spent curled up under a mango tree with an Enid Blyton or Roald Dahl book, or busily scribbling my own stories. Comments like ‘vivid imagination’ or ‘likes to daydream’ were often scattered through my school reports, because during maths, my mind would sneak off to some secret, magical world.
After school, I completed a Business degree (sneaking a few too many creative electives into the course) and spent ten years working in marketing and copywriting for the performing arts, tourism and education industries.
Eventually, I wanted to write something more creative than brochures and web copy, so I joined the Queensland Writers Centre, and began learning more about writing.
In 2009, I completed my first novel – a young adult urban fantasy called
Beyond the Reef. I have recently completed the second book in the series, Beyond the Shore, and I'm now working on the final installment, Beyond the Island.I live on the Gold Coast, Australia, with my husband and two young daughters. Our city is lined with some of the world’s best beaches, and the ocean here is home to dolphins, porpoises and turtles, and is also a thoroughfare for humpback whales. It’s the perfect place to write about the sea.
